If a wedding dress does not meet the
guidelines above, you may be asked to wear a dress
provided by the temple. Wedding dresses should always
cover the sacred garments for the marriage ceremony,
photographs, and reception activities. Temple garments
should never be altered or removed in order to
accommodate the style of the wedding dress. Brides
being endowed immediately before their marriage or
sealing may wear a white temple dress (available at
temple if needed) for the endowment session and then
change into the wedding dress before the marriage or
sealing.
It is not appropriate to have flowers,
veil, or a head piece woven into the hair for the
marriage ceremony, There are no facilities to
accommodate hair dressers in the temple.
Dress for Grooms:
White temple clothing and shoes are worn for the
marriage ceremony. Tuxedos of any color are not
appropriate.
Guests:
Because of limited seating available in sealing rooms,
only family members and few close friends should be
invited to the ceremony. Those who attend need to be
endowed and have a current temple recommend. Guests
who do not attend the marriage ceremony may wait on
the temple grounds or in the waiting room provided for
guests near the temple foyer. The bride and groom
should not request that their wedding guests change
into white clothing for the sealing. Sunday attire is
appropriate for the temple marriage guests. Tuxedos,
dinner jackets, cummerbunds, formal head wear, or
boutonnieres are not to be worn in the sealing room.
Women’s pants, veils, hats, corsages, or formal
bridesmaid attire are not to be worn in the sealing
room. Wedding guests are encouraged to conduct
themselves consistent with the sacred nature and
purpose of the temple and temple grounds. (Rice
throwing, bubble blowing, car decorating and other
worldly activities are inappropriate on the temple
grounds.)
