To One Person, You Just Might Be the World

I asked God to take away my habit, God said, No.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.

God said, No.  His spirit is whole. His body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No.
Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings; happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No.
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No.
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me. God said, Ahhh!! Finally, you have the idea. Faith, hope and charity are the essence of life. To the world you might be one person, but to one person you just might be the world. (Author Unknown)

This thought was given to my family at Christmas from a dear 85 year old friend who had only one child who died at the age of 20 and whose husband died four years ago. We lived next door to this family for the first ten years of our marriage. During this time we were blessed with three beautiful daughters, our neighbors instantly became our children's 'other' grandparents and our children became the 'World' to them. Heavenly Father knew that we needed each other and guided our paths to become neighbors.

We have been sent to this world in this day and time for a purpose. We may not know what influences we may be to even one soul, but Heavenly Father does. If you are unsure of the purpose you have been sent, strengthen your resolve to come to a better understanding of Who You Are. You are a divine child of God and He has called you to be a woman, a mother, a neighbor and a friend. He has called us to take someone by the hand, watch over them with tenderness and shower them with kindness and love....for only He knows that "but to one person you just might be the world".
