Relief Society Path

Reflecting the Light of the Lord Program
Year-long program based on the Relief Society Declaration

Booklet Section: Dedicate ourselves to strengthening marriages, families, and homes.

"You sisters are the real builders of the nation wherever you live,
for you have created homes of strength and peace and security.
These become the very sinew of any nation."

(President Gordon B. Hinckley, November 1996 Ensign)

Examples of Goals to Accomplish

  1. Take time to talk individually on a regular basis with your children either in formal interviews or on other occasions.

  2. Have a regular date with your spouse throughout the year...go to a park, take a walk, attend the temple or stay home for a candlelight dinner, etc.

  3. Create a balance of lessons taught at family home evening so they bring gospel learning, testimony building and fun.  Strive to improve the preparation that goes into the lessons and seek to be guided by the spirit.

  4. Work with your spouse and family members to find ways to better budget your income to become as free of debt as possible.

  5. Carefully distinguish between genuine humor, which everyone can enjoy, and hurtful humor, which is at someone else's expense.  "Just kidding" doesn't excuse put-downs and other rude forms of hurtful humor.  Eliminate all hurtful humor from your family relationships.

  6. By applying principles of love and respect, find one way to make your in-law relationships beautiful and binding.

  7. Optional Goals:  You may design two other goals to help you dedicate yourself to strengthening marriages, families and homes.

Goals could be passed off by attending Home, Family and Personal Enrichment meetings.  Classes and guest speakers can be planned with this in mind.
