Booklet Section:
Love Life and Learning
"Each of you, single or married, regardless of
age, has the opportunity to learn and to grow.
Expand your knowledge, both intellectual and
spiritual, to the full stature of your divine
potential."
(President Thomas S. Monson, November 1997 Ensigh)
Examples of Goals to Accomplish
-
Read two books that are uplifting and of value.
Share what you have learned from the books with your
partner.
-
With your eye toward eternity, education is the
treasure you will take with you and give you so much
the advantage in the world to come. Develop a
long-term goal of making education a life-long
process either by attending community classes or
conducting home study in religious and secular areas
that interest you. Teach what you learn in a
family home evening or other occasions.
-
Choose one thing you can do to make your home more
pleasant... create a decoration, clean an area,
better organize cupboards or closets, etc.
-
Understand the value of work in your life.
Help children also know the joy of working for
something they want instead of just giving it to
them.
-
Loving life in large measure is developed as we
recognize the things that can be changed in our
lives and making the change, but also recognizing
that some things cannot change and learning to
accept them. Find two areas in your life that
you cannot change and find ways to help you accept
them.
-
Discuss current events with your children, such as
modern trends, crime or human interest stories.
Ask how they might handle similar or difficult
situations. Discuss current events in the
context of your beliefs and help them connect what
is happening with scriptural and prophetic counsel.
-
Optional Goals: You may design two other goals
to help you love life and learning.
Goals could be passed off by attending Home, Family
and Personal Enrichment meetings. Classes and
guest speakers can be planned with this in mind.
