Booklet Section:
Stand for Truth and Righteousness
"Sisters who know right from wrong stand firm on
the Lord's side, making choices that set them apart
from the rest of the world
as they carefully monitor the family's use of
television programs,
dress modestly and refrain from watching any films that
glorify violence and immoral behavior."
(Mary
Ellen Smoot, November 1999 Ensigh)
Examples of Goals to Accomplish
-
How do you interact with people? How would it
change if Christ were by your side? As you
associate with others during the next month, act as
if Christ were near. Evaluate your behavior at
the end of each day and note it in your journal or
notebook.
-
For one month eliminate actions that would be
offensive to the Spirit of the God. This may
mean eliminating certain movies, music, TV programs,
etc. Make doing what the Savior would want you
to do a habit.
-
Satan encourages us to judge and evaluate each
other..a practice that is demeaning to both the
person who judges and the one who is judged.
For one month, strive to look at other people as
Christ would see them.
-
Observe the Sabbath day by trying to focus on three
areas: attitude, appearance and activity.
Choose one habitual Sunday activity you would like
to see your family or yourself eliminate and strive
to change this behavior into one activity that you
would like to introduce.
-
Teach your family about the values, principles and
standards described in the pamphlet, "For the
Strength of the Youth". Younger children can
easily understand and accept these values. Set
the example for your family in reflecting these
standards in your life.
-
Optional Goals: You may design two other goals
to help you stand for truth and righteousness.
Goals could be passed off by attending Home, Family
and Personal Enrichment meetings. Classes and
guest speakers can be planned with this in mind.
